Prepare rice cake (long-established brown sugar rice cake, not too sweet).

Change the knife to cut into thick slices.

Heat oil in a pan, add rice cakes and fry slowly over low heat. Because the rice cakes are very hard, they will become soft after being fried over low heat.

After about three minutes, when the rice cake becomes soft, turn it over and continue frying.

Fry both sides until bubbles form, and the outside is charred and the inside is waxy.
