Homemade shrimp powder
Overview
I bought a bag of shrimp skin some time ago and used some for making soup or cooking. There was a lot left. I wanted to digest it as soon as possible, so making shrimp powder is the most suitable method. Everyone knows that shrimp skin is a calcium supplement, but not much is eaten. Most people use shrimp skin at home to make soup or as stuffing for steamed buns. If it is made into shrimp powder, it has more uses. Shrimp powder is delicious and can replace MSG or chicken essence when making soups. You can also add a spoonful of it to adults or children to enhance the flavor. You can also add a little to make salty snacks and biscuits. It is delicious and nutritious. Nowadays, everyone pays special attention to calcium supplementation. The calcium tablets sold on the market are not cheap. In fact, if you pay attention to conditioning in your daily diet, the effect of calcium supplementation is also very good, and it is also beneficial to the body’s absorption. There are many ways to consume shrimp powder, and the calcium supplement effect is naturally very good. It is also very simple to make shrimp powder at home. There are two ways to dry the shrimp skin, either in the oven or in a wok. Finally, use a food processor to grind it into powder and put it in a sealed bottle. It is very convenient to eat as you go. I took photos and introduced both drying methods. Please read below for the specific methods!

Steps
-
Wash the dried shrimp skins several times in clean water. This can remove some of the salty taste from the shrimp skins and also make the shrimp skins cleaner;
-
Pick out the impurities from the washed shrimp skin and squeeze out the excess water;
-
There are two options at this time. One is to bake it directly in the oven at low temperature until dry, but it takes a little longer; the other method is to stir-fry the shrimp skin in a wok over low heat until the shrimp skin is completely dry, which takes less time. The following two methods will introduce the drying steps; Method 1: Heat the wok over high heat, put the shrimp skin in, and stir-fry over medium-low heat;
-
It is best to choose a heavy iron pan for the wok, which is easier to stir-fry and takes about ten minutes; however, it should be noted that the shrimp skin will appear floating during the stir-frying process;
-
Method 2: 1. If you use an oven to dry, put the washed shrimp skin into a baking pan and spread it out;
-
Place the baking sheet into the middle shelf of the oven at 130 degrees and bake for 20-40 minutes. The specific time depends on the humidity of the shrimp skin; (each oven has temperature differences, the time and temperature here are for reference only)
-
The roasted shrimp skin is very dry and becomes powder when you pinch it with your hands;
-
No matter what method is used to dry the shrimp skin, it still has to be ground into powder through a food processor. The following are the grinding steps; because the shrimp skin is easy to break and the amount is not too much, so I used my juicer to grind the shrimp powder; put the dried shrimp skin in the cooking cup, cover it, and assemble it; (note, no matter what kind of food processor is used to make shrimp powder, be sure to dry the inside of the cooking cup without any water)
-
Power on, press and hold the button, and in less than a minute, Shopee will turn into shrimp powder;
-
Open the cover and take a look. It's not bad. If there are any broken ones, close the cover again and put it back on the machine to grind it;
-
The prepared shrimp powder is very fine, you can filter it through a fine sieve, or you don’t need to filter it;
-
The shrimp powder you make yourself is more secure to eat. When cooking or making soup, you can add a little instead of MSG to enhance the flavor. If you feel it is tasteless when eating porridge, you can also add a spoonful of shrimp powder and mix it in. It is full of umami and rich in nutrients.
