Homemade dried bayberry

Homemade dried bayberry

Overview

I bought a box of Xianju Alpine bayberries with the intention of taking them to school for my son. Due to the hot weather and the bumps and squeezing during the express delivery, some of them were already watery. The fresh fruit tastes bad, so it would be a pity to throw it away. I tried making dried bayberry, and it was sour, sweet, and quite satisfying.

  2. Add an appropriate amount to the pot, pour in bayberry and rock sugar (you don’t need a lot of water, and you don’t need to use the bayberry too much)

  3. After boiling, turn to medium-low heat and continue cooking, skimming off the top layer of floating powder (turn over occasionally, no need to stir often)

  4. When the water in the pot is almost dry, turn to low heat and continue cooking. At this time, stir frequently to avoid burning the pot. As long as you don't shovel it randomly, you don't have to worry about the bayberries falling apart.

  5. Halfway through, I took out a bowl and chilled it with lemon. It was very delicious, sweet and sour, and a great way to relieve the heat.

  6. As the water in the pot becomes less and less, continue to simmer over low heat while squeezing in the lemon juice. Remember to stir constantly, the bayberries will gradually become smaller and darker. If you like it dry, you can cook it for a while

  7. My cooking was not very dry, so I turned the microwave to medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes. (You can also dry it in the sun and let it dry naturally)

  8. Let the prepared dried bayberry cool slightly

  9. Coat it with sugar (if you like the original flavor, you can also add no sugar). Seal until finished and store in the refrigerator
