Marshmallow version of peanut nougat
Overview
Winter is gradually getting deeper, but fortunately, there are still snowflakes and festivals to look forward to. In my childhood memories, the gift that best represents winter is Shanghai’s peanut nougat. Peel off the classic blue small square candy paper and put the small square candy wrapped in a layer of transparent glutinous rice into your mouth. It hardens at first, then becomes soft and chewable. The flavor of milk and peanuts are mixed together, and the aftertaste is endless. In that period when material was still very poor, for me, this was the delicacy of the world. Since I fell in love with DIY, I make some nougat every year and give them to my relatives and friends. It is my favorite handmade candy, bar none. Occasionally, we need some rituals and festivals in life to let us escape from the trivial daily life and feel and express love. This New Year, join me in making this peanut nougat, and send deep warmth and blessings to your favorite family, friends, lovers, and yourself.
