Simple oven dish - grilled chicken wings
Speaking of grilled chicken wings, I think of a story from my childhood - when I was a child, most of the chicken in our place was braised, a bit like braised chicken (the chicken made by the older generation with only a little salt and pepper was so fragrant that it made your mouth water). At that time, I often saw actors on TV holding a whole chicken and eating it. It tasted so delicious! I was used to eating braised chicken nuggets and I really wanted to eat them. That year, when my grandfather was in a good mood during the Chinese New Year, I persuaded him to make a whole chicken (I forgot how to make it, it seems to be steamed). Unexpectedly, my grandfather did not give it to us to eat, but placed it on the incense table as an offering to our ancestors. I have no objection to offering offerings to ancestors, but in the past, if the items placed on the offering table were dishes, they would basically be taken down after being offered to everyone. But I don’t know what happened that time, but the chicken stayed there all day long. On New Year's Day, I had no intention of eating the whole table, so I just stared at the chicken eagerly and my mouth watered! I don’t dare to let others see how greedy I am! On the night of the first grade of junior high school, I couldn't bear it anymore, so I quietly took the plate down, followed the example on TV, and took a bite of the chicken. I regretted it after taking one bite. It had no taste and was not delicious at all! So I put it back secretly to avoid others seeing it. I also turned the chicken over and hid the bitten side underneath. The next day is the second day of the Lunar New Year, welcoming the God of Wealth! We have a custom there, which is to eat dumplings on the morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year and wrap a few coins in the dumplings. Whoever eats them will have good luck for the whole year. I am the little princess of wealth in our family, and I can eat money dumplings every year. But that year was amazing. In the past, I would get rich dumplings after eating less than ten. That year, I ate more than twenty dumplings in one go and still didn’t see them! In the end, I gave up after my father took out the money. Then I kept thinking in my heart, my ancestors must have seen me eating chicken secretly and came here to punish me! Feeling ashamed and afraid, I moved to my grandpa after much thought and told him that I had bitten the chicken. Grandpa laughed when he saw my embarrassing look. He said I should have known you ate it secretly. I saw it when you ate it! It’s okay, just eat whatever you want! So he took down the plate of chicken and tore a chicken drumstick for me. I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that my grandfather had seen it and forgave me, and my ancestors must have forgiven me too! Well, you must have forgiven me! Because after that year, I started eating money dumplings every year on the second day of the Lunar New Year!
