This porridge nourishes the kidneys and replenishes qi. According to legend, this porridge is related to Lun Wenxu, a talented scholar from Guangdong in the Ming Dynasty. It is said that Lun's family was very poor when he was young and he made a living by selling vegetables. The porridge vendor next door took pity on his young child and cherished his talent. Every day at noon, in the name of buying vegetables, he would send a load of vegetables to the porridge vendor's house with Lun Wenxu. After delivering the dishes, the porridge vendor served him raw porridge with pork balls, pork rice noodles, and pork liver as lunch. Later, in Lunshi High School, he remembered the kindness of the porridge vendor for giving him porridge, so he returned to his hometown and ate a bowl of the same porridge that the porridge vendor had cooked for him. Since this porridge had no name, Lunshi named it and wrote a plaque on it. From then on, the name of Jidi Porridge spread throughout Guangzhou.
