Cut off both ends of the edamame, put it under the tap and wash thoroughly.

Add water to the pot to cover the edamame, and add appropriate amount of salt.

Add star anise and five-spice powder.

After boiling over high heat, turn to medium-low heat and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Remove and place in a drain basket to cool.
