Overview

I am a Chinese daughter-in-law living in Turkey for more than ten years. In order to feed my family, I learned many Turkish dishes. Some of them are my own favorites, and I hope I can introduce them to everyone slowly. Let’s make the simplest rice today.

  1. Wash the rice with water until the rice water becomes clear and transparent, set aside.

  2. Place a non-stick pan over high heat, put a spoonful of butter into the pan and melt it, then pour the washed rice into the pan and stir-fry for one minute and add salt. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan.

  3. Add 3 cups of hot chicken stock to the pot and cook over high heat until the water boils. No need to stir.

  4. Add lid to pot and reduce heat to low. Cook for ten minutes and then turn off the heat. When the rice is cooked, stir it gently from the bottom with a spatula. Cover again and simmer for a few minutes before serving.
