Waldorf Salad
Overview
Waldorf Salad is a classic American salad. It is said to have originated in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Fifth Avenue in New York around 1893, so it is also known as New York's first century-old classic salad. Legend has it that the original version only had celery and apples with mayonnaise. Later, walnut meat was added, and other ingredients such as smoked chicken and turkey could be added, allowing it to evolve and change in the hands of each chef.
