Overview
Bird's nest, also known as agar-agar, root and vegetable, is a nest built by Swiftlets and other species of the Swift family with a mixture of saliva and down feathers. It is shaped like an ingot. The outer wall of the nest is made of dense horizontal strips of filaments piled up into irregular prism-shaped protrusions. The inner wall of the nest is made of filaments woven into an irregular mesh. The base of the nest bowl is solid, with small angles at both ends. It is generally 6 to 7 centimeters in diameter and 3 to 4 centimeters deep. Mainly produced in my country's South China Sea Islands and Southeast Asian countries. Bird's nests can be divided into three types depending on the time of collection: 1. White bird's nest: it was listed as a tribute in ancient times, so it is also called palace bird's nest; 2. Hair bird's nest; 3. Blood bird's nest. Bird's nest is highly nutritious, containing 50% protein, 30% sugar and some minerals. It is one of the traditional precious foods in China.
