Colorful fruit dumplings
Overview
During the winter solstice, every household in our local area eats dumplings, which are glutinous rice balls. Rural people make big dumplings, some salty and some sweet. I used to have a distant uncle who lived in the city. Every time he came to my house and saw the big dumplings, the whole family would stare at them and dare not eat them. He said they were all used to eating the small Ningbo dumplings. Later, my mother made small glutinous rice balls specially for my uncle and his family. Because they were too small, it was difficult to add fillings to them, so she would add some fruits to make them more fragrant and sweet, and finally season them with sugar.
