-
Clean the jujubes and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
-
Wash the glutinous rice and soak it for 30 minutes. If you don't have time to soak it in water, the steaming time will be longer.
-
The glutinous rice I steamed in a rice cooker is the same as steamed rice. The only difference is that some white sugar is added when steaming the glutinous rice. This way the steamed glutinous rice will be very sweet and there is no need to add white sugar separately.
-
I steamed the jujubes on top of the rice cooker. The jujubes became softer after steaming, and the resulting glutinous rice cakes were softer.
-
Find a deep plastic box and cover it with a layer of plastic wrap.
-
Spread a layer of glutinous rice on the plastic wrap and compact it with a spoon first.
-
I covered the rolling pin with plastic wrap and used the rolling pin to compact the glutinous rice.
-
Spread a layer of jujubes on top of the glutinous rice. If you are making glutinous rice cakes for children, you can remove the jujube cores, or chop the jujubes into small pieces and sprinkle them on top of the glutinous rice. Then put a layer of glutinous rice on top of the jujubes and compact them tightly. Wrap the glutinous rice cake with plastic wrap and compact it firmly with a rolling pin.
-
Pour the glutinous rice cake out of the mold and store it in the refrigerator. You can take it out and cut it when you want to eat it. The glutinous rice cake is wrapped with plastic wrap, so you don't have to worry about it drying out.

It's cut and ready to eat.
