Margherita Pizza
Overview
It is said that in 1889, during Princess Margaret’s stay in Naples, a local chef made a pizza with tomatoes, cheese, and basil as ingredients to pay tribute to the princess. These three ingredients happened to be red, white, and green, which happened to match the colors of the Italian flag. Pizza later became the national food of Italy, and pizza Margherita became the ancestor of Italian pizza. The already very simple Margherita pizza goes minimalist here. It is said that Margherita pizza has three ingredients: tomatoes, basil, and cheese. But we don’t have tomatoes or fresh basil at home, so we originally wanted to make a simple Margherita—just pizza sauce and cheese. When I looked up, I found half a used onion. Then add some ingredients to it.
