Eating fish during the Chinese New Year has always been an important part of the traditional Chinese New Year cuisine. All eight major cuisines in my country are inseparable from fish dishes. Especially during the New Year’s Eve dinner, people can’t live without fish. Fish has the same pronunciation as "yu", and it also symbolizes mascots. For example, carp means more than enough profit; silver carp means more than one year after year; mandarin fish means more than wealth and honor.
