It’s Chinese New Year, and the finale of the New Year’s Eve dinner in my hometown is indispensable—steamed buns with bacon and bamboo shoots. Today, we will make steamed bamboo shoots with bacon and steamed bamboo shoots together. In our hometown, red-stamped steamed buns are a must-eat dish for entertaining guests during the Chinese New Year. Usually after the dishes are served, when the guests are still enjoying themselves, a steaming steamed bun is sandwiched with bamboo shoots and bacon, which is satisfying. The red-stamped steamed buns are served while hot, stuffed with braised pork or bacon and steamed with bamboo shoots. In our hometown, it is rude not to let them eat the steamed buns when guests come during the New Year. Enthusiastic hosts usually ask each guest to eat two - as the saying goes, good things come in pairs~~
