Cranberry Nougat
Overview
Last time I went back to my parents' house, I brought home-made peanut nougat, one pack for each family. It's not much, just a small bag, but everyone said that it was thoughtful to come back from such a long distance. Still made it myself. I started making it a few days before returning home, doing it in batches and packaging it in batches. I only have time to do it after get off work, so I'm a bit busy, but I feel happy. When I was a child, in an era when materials were scarce, I always looked forward to the arrival of relatives, or the return of brothers and sisters who had returned from work far away. These were the happiest things, and they would have candy to eat. Haha. And always after finishing eating, I am still thinking about wanting to eat another one. . Ha, I have been a foodie since I was a child. Although the conditions were not very good, my father would occasionally make snacks for us. Especially after the harvest season, home-grown rice has a natural fragrance and is particularly delicious as a snack. Soak the rice, then use a stone mill to grind the rice milk and steam the cake; or grind the rice flour and make snacks. In the village, everyone does it together. Mom washes the rice, and we children will take the rice to the outside village to grind the rice flour with a machine. If it is a stone mill at the head of the village, we will surround mom, help push the grinding, and help add water until the snacks are out of the pot. Steaming water cakes is usually done on rainy days, so people don't have to work in the fields. Grinding rice milk requires a lot of effort. Don’t be impatient when it comes to steamed rice cakes. When you go home and eat rice cakes, you can no longer find the taste of childhood. . . . One time, my father made brown sugar glutinous rice cake for us. The first time we tried it, we failed. We had to eat it in a small bowl, but we still ate it with gusto. In our hearts, daddy will make lots of delicious food and occasionally give us surprises. That time when I came back from a long trip, I went to school before I got home and brought us apples. That was something that my classmates envied. It was Beier's happiness, but we who were ignorant, ate apples and stuffed our little mouths without knowing how to call us daddy. I wonder if mom and dad will still remember? However, these happy memories will never disappear, as if they are right in front of you. Now, I especially want to eat my mother’s steamed thousand-layer rice cake and my father’s brown sugar cake. Everything is so sweet. Mom and Dad, be happy and healthy! Cranberry Almond Nougat, I hope you like it too.
