Ingredients
Steps
-
Soften butter at room temperature and add powdered sugar.
-
Mix well.
-
Add a pinch of salt and vanilla extract and mix well.
-
Add sifted flour, add 2 egg yolks, and reserve the egg whites.
-
Knead into a uniform dough.
-
Divide dough into two equal portions.
-
One portion is divided into 6 equal portions.
-
Add the pigment into six small doughs in proportion, knead into six doughs with even colors, and wrap them in plastic wrap.
-
Roll the dough into even thin slices. The thickness is the height of the mold divided by 6. My mold is 2.4 cm high, so roll each layer to 0.4 cm thick.
-
Add 2 teaspoons water to the egg whites and mix well.
-
Roll out all six doughs into thin sheets and brush egg wash between each two layers to stick the dough.
-
Cut the dough into strips, roughly the width of the mold.
-
Use the mold to make a heart shape.
-
Note that the grain direction remains consistent.
-
Brush the center of the heart with egg wash and stick it into a long strip.
-
Then brush the surface with egg wash, wrap it with the original color dough (you can roll the original color dough into long strips, and stick them to the outside of the heart), roll into a cylinder, wrap it with plastic wrap, and put it in the refrigerator for one hour.
-
Cut the dough into 0.5 cm thick sheets, preheat the oven at 140 degrees for 10 minutes, and bake in the oven for about 9 to 10 minutes.
