Honey Grapefruit Sauce

Honey Grapefruit Sauce

Overview

It’s the dry autumn again, and children are always prone to getting angry and having chapped lips. Fortunately, autumn is also the season when a large number of grapefruits are on the market. The functions of grapefruit are powerful: grapefruit can clear dryness and heat, produce body fluids and quench thirst, circulate Qi, stimulate appetite and digestion, relieve constipation, eliminate bad breath and intestinal bad gas, reduce phlegm and cough, relieve drunkenness, and prevent colds and gum bleeding. I often make some grapefruit jam to make tea for my kids. It has good effects on removing internal heat, relieving cough, and resolving food accumulation. When I made the recipe, I happened to have only two grapefruits on hand, so the sauce I made was a little short. You can increase the amount depending on the situation. I usually make six or seven grapefruits at a time.

  1. First, rub the outer skin of the grapefruit with salt for about two minutes, then rub it a few more times to clean the wax on the skin. And use a peeling knife to scrape off the grapefruit skin, try to scrape it as thin as possible without scraping off the white peel.

  8. Simmer until the soup is dry, turn off the heat and let cool. This process takes about half an hour. I like it a little more chewy. If you like it a little softer, you can add more water and let it simmer for a while.

  9. After cooling, add appropriate amount of honey to the grapefruit sauce and mix well. You can taste the sweetness of the sauce first and then decide how much honey to add. This amount is very optional, you can use more or less.
