Grapefruit Jade Brown
Overview
I haven’t posted a recipe for a long time, taking pictures is too time-consuming and uploading is slow. So I haven’t posted it for a long time. The Dragon Boat Festival is coming soon, and I wanted my baby to have a deeper understanding of the traditional festival by making zongzi, so I bought palm leaves, but I never had time to wrap zongzi, so I had to freeze the palm leaves in the refrigerator. In the evening, a friend posted delicious food, which aroused my desire to make. Purple sweet potato, sago brown, what should I do if I don’t have purple sweet potato at home? Haha, it’s not difficult for my daughter-in-law to rummage through boxes and cabinets to find ingredients. Walnuts, peanuts and pine nuts? Not necessarily delicious. Raisins? Red bean paste? Too ordinary. Got it! The candied Thai pomelo peel bought from Thailand is full of pomelo fragrance and beautiful in color. Paired with sago white with green hints, this is it! Unexpectedly, the brown rice is as bright as jade, crystal clear, garnished with homemade strawberry jam, and it’s coming to my mouth! No! I couldn't bear to eat it.

Ingredients
Steps
-
Soak the sago in water and pour out the water.
-
I used this water mother white sago. After the sago was soaked in water and ready, I remembered whether to take a photo and post the recipe, so I took a second shot.
-
The Thai candied grapefruit peel I brought back from my trip to Thailand is not as sweet as the domestic preserved fruit, but it has the fragrance of grapefruit, so I have been reluctant to eat it. Use it when making pineapple glutinous rice and arrowroot powder porridge. Today I use it to wrap rice dumplings and give a thumbs up to the foodies for their wonderful ideas! No more words, let’s continue. . .
-
Cut the grapefruit peel into thin strips and chop them later, the finer the better. The outer layer of the grapefruit peel is darker, so I cut it off to prevent it from being uniform in color. But don’t throw it away. As mentioned above, you can use it to make glutinous rice! It's a pity to lose something you bought so far away. Although it's not too difficult to travel abroad now, you still have to have money and leisure, right? We won’t be a prodigal bitch
-
Multiple cut points
-
Then cut into pieces, the finer the better
-
Add sago and mix well. Add a little salad oil. I used corn germ oil and added too much. When the brown rice was cooked, there were a lot of oil beads on the water surface. But it tastes good and doesn't feel oily at all.
-
Cooked palm leaves. As mentioned before, I didn’t take any photos at the beginning, so there are no photos of the boiled palm leaves. But it doesn't matter, it won't affect the subsequent steps.
-
Cut off the head, otherwise it will be too hard to wrap.
-
Take two palm leaves and roll them into cones
-
Overlap them together. Don't let the two ends overlap. You need to separate the two sides for wrapping.
-
Like this
-
Spoon in the sago and insert it a few times with chopsticks to fill the top of the pagoda
-
Don’t fill it too full
-
Start folding the package.
-
The brown head is wrapped into a triangle.
-
This way. Don't loosen your hands, otherwise they will fall apart
-
Press down
-
Start tying the thread. Be sure to tie it tightly and not too loose, otherwise the palm leaves will fall apart when cooking the brown rice.
-
It's tied up and the first dumpling is wrapped.
-
Continue to wrap the remaining
-
It’s wrapped. The sizes are not consistent, and there are smaller ones that are not plated. Because palm leaves come in different sizes, vendors wrap up many small palm leaves and place them between big palm leaves as inferior products. But it doesn’t matter, they only sell it once a year, and it’s not easy for small traders. If the palm leaves are small, wrap them in two or three overlapping sheets. The ones with leaves are really small, not much bigger than bamboo leaves, haha.
-
Put the brown rice into the pot and add water to cover it
-
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes
-
After cooking, turn off the heat and continue to simmer for 15 minutes
-
Boiled brown rice. Pillow type with two bags.
-
Peeling off the palm leaves, one of them was not tied tightly when the thread was tied. After cooking, the palm leaves loosened, but fortunately they were still in shape, and there was no difference compared with the ones that were not loosened. Do you have the urge to bite? Don't worry, it's not over yet!
-
Order the homemade strawberry jam and your mouth will be drooling!
-
No, I can't bear it anymore! Have one!
-
Stop talking, eat!
-
Pomelo-scented emerald brown!
