Choose a piece of northern tofu.

Cut into evenly sized pieces.

Heat hot water in a pot, add tofu, add a little salt and cook for 3 minutes.

Let it cool slightly and set aside until it is no longer hot to your hands.

Pour peanut oil into the pot, add a little more oil, add peppercorns, star anise and green onion segments and stir-fry until fragrant. Add tofu and stir-fry quickly. Be careful to do so gently to prevent the tofu from falling apart.

After all the tofu is evenly dipped in oil, add a spoonful of Pixian bean paste and continue to stir-fry. At this time, the tofu is basically set.
