Warm up Christmas with the Dream House-----Gingerbread House
Overview
Christmas is still more than half a month away, and Christmas trees can be seen everywhere in shops on the streets. Santa Claus brings the festive atmosphere to our faces. Gingerbread houses are the most appropriate and festive food at Christmas. Gingerbread cookies are made into house parts and then decorated with icing sugar. The finished gingerbread house is like a fairy tale cabin, full of dreamy colors. My daughter and I spent several hours making two gingerbread houses. The first time we made them, we cut them into smaller sizes. The mini version of the house made it a little inconvenient for us to make. However, the process of making the crafts with my daughter was very happy. I think Meimei has a wonderful memory like me. These two gingerbread houses are the only food that I can’t bear to eat after taking a photo. They are so beautiful and I feel satisfied and enjoy them just looking at them on the table.

Ingredients
Steps
-
Have materials ready.
-
Pour the premixed powder into a large basin and add honey.
-
Add the beaten egg liquid.
-
Mix well with a spatula and knead with your hands to form a dough. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
-
Cut out each part of the gingerbread house drawing one by one to make a paper model. (I was lazy and used Junzhi's, you can also design it according to your own preferences)
-
Place the relaxed dough on a chopping board, sprinkle with a little hand flour, and roll into a thin sheet about 0.3CM thick.
-
Place the cut paper model on the dough sheet and use a knife to cut out the gingerbread house pieces according to the edges of the model.
-
Carefully lay the cut dough flat on the baking sheet, prick some holes with a fork, brush with a layer of egg wash, let it sit for about 20 minutes, brush with another layer of egg wash, and bake in the middle of a preheated 180-degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
-
Roll out a large piece of dough to make the base of the gingerbread house. Follow the same method and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 12-15 minutes.
-
Make meringue: Mix egg whites and icing sugar, add lemon juice, and continue to beat. (You can make less icing than you should first, and add more when it is not enough. The icing used for bonding needs to be thicker and more powdered sugar added. The sugar used for painting the roof needs to be thinner and more lemon juice added.)
-
After the baked cookies are cool, you can assemble them. First, assemble and secure the bottom of the gingerbread house with sticky icing. Wait until the bottom icing is dry and the house is strong before putting up the roof and small door.
-
After the house is built, apply a slightly thinner layer of icing sugar on the roof. After the thin layer of icing has dried, use a slightly thicker sugar box for simple decoration.
