New Year’s Eve Snacks—Brown Sugar Fried Rice Cake
Overview
When I was a child during the Chinese New Year, I always liked to pester my mother to make fried glutinous rice cakes with sugar water. When the glutinous rice cakes came out of the pot, I would eagerly go to them with a small spoon, blow them hard several times, and take a small bite. I wanted to gobble them up but was afraid of being burned. Thinking about it, I must have looked very embarrassed when eating, but I felt so satisfied when I ate them... This is the taste of the New Year in my memory, sticky to the teeth, hot to the mouth, and sweet! What I bought from the supermarket this time was dry glutinous rice cake. In order to make it softer when fried, I soaked it in water for a long time. Just use kitchen paper to absorb the water before putting it in the pan. It's very, very simple!
