Qingming Rice Cake--a traditional snack of the Hakka people

Overview

My family is in the Hakka area, and Hakka women are hardworking and virtuous. They can make many traditional Hakka specialties, and Qingming rice dumplings are one of them. Qingming rice dumplings are commonly known as green rice dumplings and mugwort rice dumplings. They are fragrant and sweet and can dispel dampness and replenish qi. The ingredients are fresh and wild grass. Because they contain mugwort, it is good for women to eat. Every Qingming Festival, it is Hakka custom that everyone goes out in the wild to visit graves and pick some fresh and tender ramie leaves, mugwort leaves, Pulsatilla, Houttuynia cordata, chicken manure vine and Shijunzi that are in season to make Qingming rice dumplings. During the Qingming Festival, it rains heavily and the human body is heavy with moisture. Eating Qingming rice dumplings to dispel cold and dampness is just the right thing!
