Prepare main ingredients.

Heat the pot, add oil, and stir-fry the sugar. Make sure the heat is low and stir constantly. This is enough for novices. You can also fry it until it bubbles.

Pour in the large ribs and stir-fry until they change colour, add ginger, garlic and star anise.
