Lentils braised in olive oil

Türkiye is a major olive oil producing country. Olive oil dishes are also an indispensable part of Turkish feasts. In addition to its health and beauty benefits, olive oil can also be used to make delicious dishes. Today I will introduce olive oil braised lentils. This dish can be eaten hot or cold. Turks prefer to eat it cold.

Wash the lentils, remove the heads and tails and cut into two sections.

Dice the onion. Grind the tomatoes into puree or cut into cubes. Finely chop the chilies and garlic. Soak lentils in boiling water for 10 minutes.

Once the pan is on the heat, add olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onions and stir-fry until the color turns yellow, then add the sugar.

Add the drained lentils and stir-fry briefly, then add minced garlic and minced chili.

After the lentils are cooked, add the diced tomatoes and bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce to low heat and simmer with lid on for 30 minutes.

After the lentils are cooked, add salt and cook over low heat for 10 minutes before serving.
