Peel broad beans, rinse and set aside.

Prepare bay leaves, dried chili peppers, star anise, peppercorns, cinnamon, and water to rinse away the dust on the surface.

Boil water in a pot, add broad beans into the water.

Pour in the prepared spices.

Add enough salt to make the broad beans less flavorful.
