Steamed beef with rice

Steamed beef with rice

Overview

I originally wanted to make steamed beef, but there was no rice noodles for sale in Chinatown (−_−;) Then the chef’s aunt gave me two bags of rice noodles she brought from China. But this morning when I opened them, I was stunned, it was broken rice! Embarrassing! Well, it turns out that the rice noodles for steamed beef vary greatly from region to region. In the end, I had to fry a small bowl of rice and make steamed beef with rice. It tasted pretty good. However, the rice is from overseas and is not as soft and glutinous as in China -_-#

Steps

  1. Cut about a pound of beef into small pieces, add two tablespoons of starch and mix evenly. Peel and chop 4 cloves of garlic, chop a piece of ginger, chop two white scallions, a small handful of Sichuan peppercorns, cut 4 dried chili peppers into small sections with scissors, break two star anise into cloves, a spoonful of cooking wine, and two spoons of chili sauce. Add all the above seasonings to the beef and stir together (salt can be added if the flavor is strong, but Sichuan chili sauce always contains salt and soy sauce, so there is no need to add salt. My chili sauce was bought in Chinatown and it is not very spicy. Other seasonings can be increased or decreased according to personal preference) and marinated for half an hour. Then chop the white scallions into finely chopped green onions and cut the coriander into small pieces and set aside.

  2. Add half a finger's worth of water to the rice cooker, put the beef on a plate, and pour a small cup of water on the plate (if you like it drier, add less water, if you like it thinner, add more water). Put the rice cooker into the steamer, press the cook button, and wait for the water to boil for half an hour.

  3. It’s out of the pot, sprinkle with chopped green onion and coriander (I admit that I forgot to buy coriander and green onion in the supermarket because I was lazy a few days ago. I only had white green onion and used it up during steaming ( ̄(worker) ̄)) But the taste is still tempting. This is the first pot, and I steamed it twice after finishing it, because a few friends ate the first pot too fast (☆_☆)
