Flower cake (tulip)
Overview
This year, the day after the National Day was the Double Ninth Festival (Old People's Day). My mother went to the kitchen and I was her assistant, making N steamed cakes for three consecutive days. In addition to keeping one and two children for their own consumption, the rest were given to relatives, friends and the elderly next door. Sending cakes at this time is in line with the good customs of the Double Ninth Festival and expresses our sincerity: first, we wish people a happy family and everything is good (cake); second, we wish the elderly good health, longevity and good fortune (cake). The meaning is beautiful!

Steps
-
Place the flexible bottom of the 8-inch cake mold on the paper, draw a circle along the outer circle, and draw a flat pattern of tulips in the circle at a ratio of 1:1.
-
Squeeze the rapeseed juice and knead it into a small green dough, set aside. (Make leaves and grass).
-
Soak and wash the red dates, blanch them in boiling water, take them out and set aside. (Except Hotan jujube).
-
Pour cornmeal into boiling water and stir evenly
-
When the milk is lukewarm, pour in the dry yeast and mix thoroughly
-
When the cornmeal is no longer hot, pour in the flour, then pour in the yeast milk solution, and stir into a batter (the softness and hardness can be adjusted to your personal taste). Place in a warm place to let hair rest.
-
While waiting for the hair to bloom, cut the Hotan jujube lengthwise, core it into two halves, and cut it into the shape of tulip petals. The rest will be decomposed into semi-finished products according to the pattern and set aside for later use.
-
When the batter has doubled in size, brush the 8-inch cake tin with a layer of cooking oil.
-
Place the mold into a steamer with lukewarm water. Pour half of the batter into the mold and spread it out. Make two circles of red dates in a thin circle (the outermost circle is close to the inner wall of the mold). Then pour the remaining batter into the mold and spread it out.
-
When the batter has risen for the second time and the mold is 90% full, assemble the semi-finished products according to the pre-drawn pattern and place them on a flat surface, above the row of red dates.
-
Cover, bring to a boil over high heat, steam for 30 minutes, turn off the heat and simmer for five minutes, then lift the lid and remove from the pot.
-
Let it dry for about fifteen minutes. Use a cake knife to scrape around the outer circle of the cake to make it easy to release it from the mold.
