Winter Solstice Circle
Overview
Today is the winter solstice. In our local area, the most distinctive thing about the winter solstice festival is eating winter solstice balls, which can be sweet or salty. Salty winter solstice balls are glutinous rice balls with fillings made of meat, dried fragrant seeds, winter bamboo shoots and other seasonal vegetables. They are wrapped and cooked or steamed before eating. I remember when I was little, my mother used to make big, fragrant and glutinous stuffed balls, and two or three of them would fill my stomach. When I grew up, I also learned to make dumplings. The same rice noodles and cooking method, and the fillings are better than before, but I still miss the deliciousness of my childhood. In fact, it is an endless yearning for the deep family love.
