Add the yeast powder to the warm water, stir evenly, then add it to the flour, stir it into a fluffy shape with chopsticks, and knead it into a smooth dough with your hands. Add it to the warm water and let it rise for 3 hours. Let it rise until it forms a honeycomb shape as shown in the picture
-
Cut some green onions and set aside. Take out the dough and knead it with your hands for a minute to drain out the air. Then let it rest there for a few minutes
-
After it has rested, knead it for another minute and continue to release the air. After the air is released, flatten the dough
-
Roll out into a long shape
-
Brush a layer of rapeseed oil on the surface evenly, then evenly sprinkle with salt, pepper, five-spice powder and chopped green onion
-
Roll it up from one direction, preferably a little wider, as shown in the picture, so that it will be easier to pinch the roll later
-
Cut into small uniform pieces
-
Grasp the two ends of the dough with your hands, and turn the textured side up. Use two hands to stretch the dough a little longer. Bend your hands downwards, pinch the two ends of the dough together, and place them head down, as shown in the picture. Anyway, it doesn’t look good when I knead it, so long as it tastes good, haha
-
Then put the dough aside and continue to proof for about 5 minutes. It is best to cover the surface with a cage cloth so that the skin will not be hardened by the wind
-
Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. After the water boils, add the flower rolls and steam them for about 12 minutes

The steamed Hanamaki is very delicious. If you like chili, add a layer of chili oil to make it even better
