Chop the chicken into pieces and set aside.

Cut the green onions into sections, slice the ginger, and pat the garlic into pieces and set aside.

Put the chicken pieces into a small basin, add scallions, ginger slices, and garlic.

Add light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, salt and sugar and marinate for half an hour.

Peel the taro and cut into small pieces. Set aside.

Place the wok on the stove, pour in cooking oil, and fry the star anise under cold oil until fragrant.
