Make stinky tofu at home

Overview

I am a fan of stinky tofu. Every time I encounter a stinky tofu stall, I want to try something. However, my husband prohibits me every time and tells me repeatedly what stinky tofu is made of. I went to a food festival recently and saw that the Fire Palace Stinky Tofu looked pretty good, so I bought one. It tasted just average, but the sour beans inside were more authentic. Unexpectedly, my stomach would feel uncomfortable in the next few hours, which made me extremely angry. Decided to do it at home. First of all, I would like to thank an unknown woman from Hubei Province for sharing the method. After reading several methods on the Internet, I chose her method, which is simple and hassle-free. I just happened to have an open bottle of shrimp paste at home. Haha, God helps foodies.

Steps

  1. Put a tablespoon of shrimp paste in a large container and stir well with warm water. Cut a small piece of tofu into fine pieces, put it in a bowl, and let it ferment at room temperature for two days. (There is no odor. For a time I doubted whether this recipe would be successful)

  2. Cut the tofu into appropriate-sized pieces. I first started slicing, but later changed to cubes, so the finished product was sometimes like this and sometimes like that. Put it into the fermented brine and leave it at room temperature for one day

  3. Drain the soaked tofu and fry in oil over low heat until golden brown.

  4. Mix the ingredients listed in the ingredient list and enjoy the stinky tofu, which tastes as good as the ones sold outside

  5. Even my husband who doesn’t eat snacks secretly tasted two pieces. If he hadn’t been chased away, I wouldn’t have eaten enough. In the end, I mixed the seasoning with rice and ate it all. The food I made is clean, don’t worry
