Yong Tau Fu with Tomato Sauce
Overview
Tofu is a home-cooked dish that I never get tired of eating. My favorite home-cooked recipes are spicy tofu, braised tofu, etc. I made shrimps in tomato sauce last time, and there were a lot of shrimps left. My daughter said she hadn’t eaten tofu for a while, so I put the shrimps in the tofu and stuffed them together. Looking at the red tomato juice, my daughter directly filled a bowl of rice with the tomato juice. I scooped it with a small spoon and poured it on the rice. I said it was shrimp and tofu rice bowl. Ha, my husband laughed. He said it was the first time he heard of such a rice bowl. My daughter was not to be outdone and said that her mother invented it. There are so many that you haven’t eaten before! Tofu is a tonic, heat-clearing and health-preserving food. Traditional Chinese medicine theory believes that tofu is sweet in taste and cool in nature. It enters the spleen, stomach and large intestine meridians. It has the effects of replenishing qi and neutralizing phlegm, promoting body fluids and moisturizing, clearing heat and detoxifying. It can be used to treat red eyes, quench thirst, and relieve sulfur and soju poisons.
